This carving is finished with an indoor/outdoor sealer.
I carved this owl using primarily a chainsaw. I began with a Red Pine log and a fairly large chainsaw. I blocked out the carving with the large small, and then moved on to a smaller saw. After the chainsaw work was complete, I used several different hand tools to refine this piece into what you see. It is finished with acrylic paint and spar urethane.
I hollowed out the base and spent a lot of time drying this piece, in order to minimize checking (cracking).

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
