“The Watcher”
11” long, 6” wide, 2” thick
This is a wall-hanging carving. There is a hanger on the back, along with my signature and the date.
I made this carving in a Pine knot. Pine knots are sort of like the forest’s driftwood. Any place a branch of a Pine meets the base of the tree, a knot is formed. When the tree eventually dies and decays back into the earth, all that remain are the pitch-filled, resilient knots. It is said that spirits inhabit that knots that allow them to remain in-tact for so long. My job is to release the spirits :)

I used rotary hand tools and small knives to carve this face. I finished it with thinned oils and polyurethane.

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
