I carved this unique and whimsical Hobbit House in a piece of Cottonwood bark. Yes, this is actual bark from a Cottonwood tree.
I really like the natural shape and texture of this bark. It's like a house that was formed in and with nature- everything about it seems natural.
There are lots of lookouts from this funky little house. There is a dormer, some large windows and a walkout balcony from the upstairs bedroom. Whoever lives here always has a close eye on his surroundings.
This sculpture is carved from one piece of bark that is attached to a bark base. It is finished with shoe cream. The shoe cream seals the carving but keeps it looking natural. I signed and dated the back...
This is a free-standing sculpture.
Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me, Josh.
I created this sculpture using chisels and rotary hand tools (similar to dentist tools). Many hours were put into this whimsical casa.
This carving measures 12 1/2" tall, 3 1/2" wide (almost 6" wide including the base) and 3" thick (including base).
SHIPPING IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE CARVING TO THE USA! Please see my Policies for international shipping.

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
