This is a hand carved sculpture in a Pine knot. This is a wood carving of a wood spirit. It is a collectible face made by me, Josh Carte, here in Ohio. It will be a unique wood gift for him or her.
This is a large carving for a cheap price. It's older inventory and I need to make room for the new. Get it while it lasts!
Pine knots are sort of like the forest's driftwood. When a Pine tree dies and rots away, all that is left is rotted wood and Pine knots. Anywhere a branch meets the base of a tree, a knot is formed. The pitch-filled, resilient knots remain in tact much longer than the rest of the tree.
Some say that there are spirits that inhabit the knots that allow them to remain for so long...My job is to release the spirits :)
This carving measures 24" tall, 4" wide and 2" thick. I have signed and dated the back of this carving. A certificate telling a bit about me is included :)

My collectible wood spirit carvings make great gifts to friends, loved ones, or oneself. They are all unique and one-of-a-kind.
I carve my wood spirit wood carvings using rotary hand tools...more specifically, a Foredom. This tool is similar to a dentist's tool. There are various cutters used in a hand piece that is powered by an electric motor. I just love carving these crazy characters!

I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
