This is a wood spirit carving of a Native American. It is a handmade woodworking that is hand-carved in a piece of Cottonwood bark. This unique wall hanging piece of fine art will make a perfect wood gift.
Wood Spirits are my favorites to carve. So much emotion can be evoked by a simple expression. I carved this guy using rotary hand tools (similar to dentist tools) and painted with oil and acrylic paints. This is a very special carving. I spent several sessions working on this piece.
This wall- hanging wood carving measures 18" tall, 4" wide and 2" thick. This is very large and thick piece of Cottonwood bark.
Yes, this is an actual piece of bark from a Cottonwood tree. This bark is from Montana and is very solid and consistent. It made for a wonderful carving medium. It is quite soft, so the slightest movement of the hand can change the overall look of this piece. It takes a lot of time and delicate manipulation to work with Cottonwood bark.

I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
