This is a wood carving of an owl. It is a chainsaw carving that was hand carved by me, Josh Carte. It will make a perfect birthday or anniversary wood gift.
This carving measures 18 1/2" tall, 8" wide and 8" deep. It weighs around 6 pounds.

This sculpture is made of wood that has a very, very low moisture content. What this means is that the carving will not split or crack over time. It is very stable. It takes a lot of extra time and energy, with large logs like this, to get the wood to a point of being stable. This sculpture will last a lifetime.
I began this carving with a chainsaw and a log. After getting the rough shape with a chainsaw, I put this piece into my wood dryer. I like to get almost all of the moisture out of my chainsaw carvings before I begin the finish process. This ensures a solid foundation. Next, I went in with hand tools and sanders to create all of the little details. After that, I used an airbrush to create the various colors of this lively owl :) I finished this piece with a couple coats of spray urethane. This carving is finished to be under roof. If placed out in the direct sun, it will need a UV resistant sealer applied.
This little owl will make a wonderful center piece. It will look great on a kitchen table, bar or office. He could also be used to greet each and every person that comes to visit :)

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
