This is a wood carving of a wood spirit. It is hand carved by me, Josh Carte. This original piece of art makes a perfect wood gift for him, her or oneself. It will be great for an anniversary or birthday.
"Crank"... 19" tall, 2 3/4" wide and 2 1/4" thick.
I carved Crank in a Pine knots. Pine knots are sort of like the forest's driftwood. Any place a branch meets the base of a tree, a knot is formed. When the tree falls and rots away, all that is left are the pitch-filled, resilient knots. It is said that there are spirits that inhabit the knots and that's why they remain in-tact for so long. My job is to release the spirits.
I normally use a tad bit of oil paint to accentuate the cuts that I make on Pine knots. This one is left natural. I really love this one!
All of my art is completely original! I spend many hours and sometimes days or more on each piece that I create.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
