This is a wood carving of a wood spirit in an Ironwood branch. It is a handmade woodworking, carved by me, Josh Carte.
Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me, Josh. I don't have any elves or helpers. When you buy from me, you are helping to support my family. I hand carved this goofy guy in an Ironwood branch. I really love Ironwood for its very pale color. It makes a great "blank canvas" for finishing.
This carving is 9" tall, 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" thick. This is a wall-hanging piece. I have attached a hanger on the back, as well as the date and my signature. I include a certificate with all of my wood spirit carvings telling a bit about me and my process.

I carve using rotary hand tools. Most folks are familiar with a Dremel tool. The tool that I use for carving is similar to a Dremel, only a bit beefier. This tool is made by Foredom. I use several different bits in my Foredom to carve a blank piece of wood into the character from my mind. I really love this type of work and I'm so grateful to be able to do it everyday.
I finish all of my wood spirit carvings with a coat of urethane sealer before I apply thin washes of oil paint to accentuate my cuts.

Custom and personalized orders
Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
