This is a wood carving that hangs on the wall. This is a very unique sculpture that was hand carved by me, Josh.
Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me, Josh. I don't have any elves or helpers. When you buy from me, you are helping to support my family. This is a wall-hanging wood carving. I signed and dated the back. I include a certificate telling a bit about me and my process with all of my wood spirit wood carvings.
I created these sculptures in a Pine knot. Any place a branch of a Pine tree meets the base of the tree a knot is formed. When the tree falls down and rots away, the only things that remain are the pitch-filled, resilient knots. It is said that there are spirits that inhabit the knots that allow them to remain in-tact long after the rest of the tree has rotted away. Every knot is unique, stable and beautiful. My job is to release the spirits!

I carve using rotary hand tools (very similar to the tools of a dentist). There is a hand piece, a flexible shaft and a foot pedal, all powered by a hanging motor that assist me in bringing my visions to life. I like to use just a tad of oil paint to accentuate my cuts.

I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
