This is a wood carving of a wood spirit. This pipe smoker is carved in a unique piece of Redwood.
This carving was made entirely by hand. I allowed the natural shape of this piece to show me where to go with the carving.

This is a wall-hanging wood carving. I signed and dated the back. I include a certificate telling a bit about me and my process with all of my wood spirit wood carvings.
I created this sculpture in a piece of Redwood. I began the carving using rotary hand tools and grinders. Some aggressive bits were used to rough-in the shape, and I refined until I was using a bit as fine as a needle. I finished this piece with spray urethane and thinned oil paints.

I carve using rotary hand tools (very similar to the tools of a dentist). There is a hand piece, a flexible shaft and a foot pedal, all powered by a hanging motor that assist me in bringing my visions to life. I like to use just a tad of oil paint to accentuate my cuts.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
