This is a wood carving of a wood spirit. I hand carved this guy in a piece of Dogwood. I left the bark on this piece, as I really enjoy the character it brings. He will surely make a perfect wood gift :)

This is a wall-hanging carving. I have attached a hanger on the back, and I signed the back as well. I include a certificate with all of my Wood Spirit Carvings telling a bit about me and my process.

I used several different burrs and bits to create this sculpture. I began with a plain piece of Dogwood branch. I used rough burrs to help give me an idea of the overall shape. I then went back with smaller, less abrasive burrs to refine the shape. Finally, I used burrs as thin as needles to really bring this guy to life. Once the carving part of things was finished, I applied a coat of spray urethane before finishing with thinned, oil paints.
I carve everyday for a living. It's what I love to do :)

I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
