This is a wood carving in a Pine knot cutoff. This sculpture was carved entirely by hand, by me, Josh. This guy will make a perfect wood gift for him, her or oneself.
Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me, Josh. I don't have any elves or helpers. When you buy from me, you are helping to support my family. We really appreciate it :) When you buy something from an artist, you're buying more than an object. You're buying hundreds of hours or errors and experimentation. You're buying years of frustration, and moments of pure joy. You're not buying one thing, you are buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul.... a small piece of someone else's life.
I created this sculpture in a Pine knot. Any place a branch of a Pine tree meets the base of the tree a knot is formed. When the tree falls down and rots away, the only things that remain are the pitch-filled, resilient knots. It is said that there are spirits that inhabit the knots that allow them to remain in-tact long after the rest of the tree has rotted away. Every knot is unique, stable and beautiful. My job is to release the spirits!
I carve everyday for a living. It's my favorite thing in the world to do :) The two things that I love most are my family and carving wood. So, it only makes sense that I carve wood to support my family :) I have been at it for almost 9 years and I still love it just as much as I did when I began!
This is a wall-hanging sculpture, created by my two hands. This is a one-of-a-kind carving. There will never be another just like this. I sign and date the back of all of my wood spirit carvings. I also include a certificate telling a bit about me and the story of the character.
I carve using rotary hand tools (very similar to the tools of a dentist). There is a hand piece, a flexible shaft and a foot pedal, all powered by a hanging motor that assist me in bringing my visions to life. I like to use just a tad of oil paint to accentuate my cuts.

I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
