This is a knife block for a single, chef blade knife. This is an original, functional, wood carving by me, Josh Carte.
"Bad Day"... 14' tall, 8" wide, 8" thick.... This knife block will hold most chef blade knives. The knife I have pictured has an 8" blade that is 2" wide at the widest point. This block is designed to hold one knife at a time. Other, smaller knives could be used in place of a chef blade.

Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me. I don't have any elves or helpers. When you buy from me, you are helping to support a family. We really appreciate you :)
I began this carving in a raw, block of Red Pine wood. I used a chainsaw to shape up this piece. I added the details using hand tools and grinders. I finished this carving with several coats of spray urethane, and added just a tad bit of oil paint to accentuate the cuts. This block of wood is completely dry. It won't split or crack over time. This carving can be passed on for generations.
This frightened fella' will make a great addition to any kitchen. Nothing says "fun" like a big-nosed, wide eyed, scared old man who has a giant knife sticking out of his head. This piece was a lot of fun to create.

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
