“Johnny Lame-O”

This is a wall-hanging carving. I’ve attached a hanger on the back, along with my signature and date. I include a certificate with all of my Wood Spirit Carvings that tells a bit about me and my process.
I began this knot carving with just that, a knot. Knots are sort of like the forest’s driftwood. Any place a branch meets the base of a Pine tree, a knot is formed. When the tree finally dies and decays back into the earth, all that remain are the knots. It is said that spirits reside within the pitch-filled, resilient knots, which allow the knots to remain in tact, on the ground, for years and years. It’s my job to release the spirits.
I used a chainsaw, carbide burrs, sandpaper, knives, steel wool, polyurethane, and a tad bit of oil paint to create this spirit.

I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
