“Less than Fond of the Idea”
13” tall, 3 1/2” wide, 1 1/2” thick
This is a carving in a piece of Cottonwood bark that hangs on the wall. This is a very unique piece, and is one-of-a-kind.
I spent many, many hours creating this sculpture. I wanted him to be just right :)
Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me, Josh Carte.
This carving hangs on the wall. I include a hanger. Also, I sign, date and list the name of the work on the back. A certificate telling a bit about me is included with all of my wood spirit wood carvings.
I finished this piece with acrylic paint and polyurethane. It is easy to clean with a feather duster, or compressed air.
SHIPPING IS INCLUDED in the price of the carving to the USA! Please contact me for international shipping.
I created this guy in a piece of Cottonwood bark. Yes, this is actually a piece of bark from a Cottonwood tree. It is a wonderful carving medium as it is quite soft to work and it is very stable.
I carve using rotary hand tools. They are sort of like the tools that a dentist uses. I have a hand piece with a whole lot of different bits that allow me to make very precise cuts. I love carving! I carve everyday for a living. It’s the best job in the world! I get to bring all of the stored memories and imprints on my mind to life. When you buy from me, you are buying from an artist and his family, not a large corporation. We appreciate you :)

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
