“Up to Something Good”
18” tall, 4 1/2” wide, 3” thick.. Driftwood
I made this carving using several different tools. I began with a chainsaw and worked my way down to a bit that is as thin as a needle. I finished this carving with polyurethane, and then I used thinned-down oil paints.
I carve everyday for a living. It’s what I love to do :) I take great pride in all of my work, so you can be assured that I will take excellent care when packaging and shipping your wood carvings.
As this is a piece of driftwood, it could have gathered bugs and other unwanted bits. I heat treated this piece of wood, so that there are no bugs and this carving will not crack or split over time. Removing almost all of the moisture from the wood helps to stabilize the wood and keep it in one piece. The carving will last as long as you, and possibly even longer. I sealed this carving for indoor hanging.
This is a wall-hanging carving. I have attached a hanger on the back, along with the date and my signature. I include a certificate of authenticity with all of my wood spirit carvings.

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
